Mt Field National Park is one of Tasmania’s most beloved wilderness regions — a place of ancient forests, towering eucalyptus, cascading waterfalls and abundant wildlife. This private day tour blends nature, conservation and local flavour, offering an unforgettable journey through the Derwent Valley and alpine rainforest.

Your day begins with an immersive visit to Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary, where expert keepers introduce you to Tasmania’s unique fauna — from devils and wombats to kangaroos and quolls. Continue into the Derwent Valley for fresh regional produce before ascending into the cool temperate rainforest of Mt Field for breathtaking walks among giant trees and the iconic Russell Falls.

This is a relaxed, flexible day designed around your interests — whether that’s gentle walks, wildlife encounters, seasonal tastings or a premium dining upgrade at the acclaimed Agrarian Kitchen. A scenic return drive brings you back to Hobart by early evening.

Suggested but highly flexible itinerary:
Be picked up from your hotel at 8:30am by your Chauffeur in a premium vehicle with bottled water and local treats. Ease into the day with a scenic drive into the Derwent Valley.

Arrive at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary — a leading conservation centre — to meet Tasmanian Devils, wombats, kangaroos and other endemic species while learning from passionate keepers.

Continue to the historic town of New Norfolk for a short stroll and morning tea. Enjoy seasonal berries, cherries, apples or honey sourced fresh from the region’s farms.

Venture deeper into Mt Field National Park to experience towering Swamp Gums — some of the tallest flowering plants on the planet. Your guide will introduce you to the park’s rare plants, wildlife and natural history.

Enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch prepared with premium Tasmanian produce in a serene natural setting. Alternatively, upgrade to a multi-course dining experience at The Agrarian Kitchen (Fri–Sun).

Walk to the spectacular Russell Falls and explore other nearby trails, keeping watch for platypus in mountain streams and wedge-tailed eagles soaring overhead.

Your host will adjust the pace and sequence of the day to suit weather conditions and your interests, returning you safely to your accommodation in Hobart by approximately 5:30pm.
